Robert Clayton Shantz was born on September 26, 1925. He is a former Major League Baseball pitcher.
He played from 1949-1964 for the Philadelphia/ Kansas City Athletics, New York Yankees, Pittsburgh Pirates, Houston Colt .45’s, St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs, and Philadelphia Phillies.
He was a three-time All Star (1951, ’52, and ’57), a 1958 World Series Champion (Yankees), and an eight-time Gold Glove Award Winner (1957, ’58, ’59, ’60, ’61, ’62, ’63, and ’64).
Bobby Shantz was also the 1952 AL MVP.
